We’ve been the premier construction company in North East Arnhem Land since 1991, delivering construction, civil and maintenance projects across twenty regional hubs and remote homelands.

We’re all about the community. We're a 100% Indigenous-owned business and a part of the for-purpose Gumatj Group. Because of our connections to the local land and Yolngu people, we build homes, schools and businesses that meet the needs of our community and add value to the region.

Through delivering high-quality builds, we create a better place to live and, as part of the Gumatj Group, we promote economic independence for the Yolngu people.

BUILDING & MAINTAINING REMOTE COMMUNITY HOUSING

This work is all about enhancing liveability in some of the most remote parts of Australia. We're building new houses, doing renovations as part of the Room to Breathe program, and maintaining both homes, commercial assets and services across these communities. Our work across the region eases crowded households, extends home usability, and lessens wear and tear. We're creating family-oriented living space that are about more than bricks and mortar. These initiatives, which run across the top end, cultivate local employment and support dignified living practices.

STAFF ACCOMMODATION AT YUTJUWALA AGED CARE FACILITY

Nhulunbuy is putting itself on the map as a home for the whole community, investing in essential services and the facilities to cater to our everyone in town. A milestone in this was our construction of eight duplexes and one house strategically located to serve the adjacent Flexible Aged Care Facility. With housing a hot commodity in the region, providing staff accommodation for skilled workers is a crucial step in making sure those jobs are filled and local people have access to health and aged care services.

DHUPUMA BARKER COLLEGE PRIMARY SCHOOL CAMPUS

This primary school campus is a pretty exciting upgrade for the local Yolngu students who attend Dhupuma Barker Primary School. In collaboration with Barker College, KYA Architects, Gumatj and YYF, we've worked closely with the community of Gunyangara to design a school that celebrates the culture and the country. The design is fit for purpose with room for sustainable growth. It’s going to meet the changing needs of the school and its students. We’re upgrading the students from hot, dusty dongas and constructing flexible classrooms, dedicated learning spaces and covered play areas as well as special places for cultural activities.

CYCLONE SHELTER & MULTI-PURPOSE HUB

This multi-purpose building isn't just a cyclone shelter; it's a community hub. Beyond being a safe place to go in extreme weather conditions, it houses top-notch facilities for local sporting teams and community groups. Built to weather the storm (literally), it complies with rigorous cyclone guidelines using locally produced, debris-tested materials. We’ve also respected cultural practices in the design by allowing for multi-functional use of the space in both open plan and closed concept set ups.

Where we work

We’re based in Nhulunbuy on the Gove Peninsula. It’s the fourth largest town in the NT, and has the most remote Woolies in Australia. We’re a quick flight from Darwin or Cairns or a 9 hours drive from Katherine.

We work across East Arnhem Land, from Gunyangara to Milingimbi, and Galiwin’ku and Ramingining. These are some of the most remote communities in Australia, and there's a few you can only get to by charter flight or boat. Picture endless red dirt roads, crystal blue water and plenty of fish - bring your 4WD, your rod and your sense of adventure.
